Dead Mormon Burial Garment Pictures

In temples, many adult members of the Church make covenants, or sacred promises, with God. As a daily reminder of these commitments, they wear temple garments, a special type of underclothing. Wearing the garment is a personal choice and responsibility after making these covenants. Members are also buried in their temple garments as a sacred symbol of their faith and covenants. Sacred clothing has roots in biblical traditions. Members see parallels between the temple garment and religious clothing in scripture, such as the garments given to Adam and Eve in Genesis and the high priestly attire described in Exodus. Similar to a nun’s habit, a yarmulke, or a Buddhist monk’s robes, the temple garment signifies a personal religious commitment and serves as a reminder of one’s relationship with God. It is a symbolic covering that represents both their covenants and the atonement of Jesus Christ.
