Positive Impacts of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Across the globe, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is recognized not only for its distinctive beliefs but also for its measurable contributions to human welfare, education, family life, and faith. While public discussion often centers on theology, the Church’s practical impact tells an equally powerful story—one of service, compassion, learning, and growth. The following highlights illustrate how faith in action continues to bless millions of lives worldwide.
Fact #1: The Church Is a Global Force for Good
Few organizations in the world match the scale and consistency of the Church’s humanitarian work. Since 2021, the Church has contributed roughly $5 billion in global aid. In 2024 alone, those efforts totaled $1.45 billion—equivalent to nearly $4 million every day dedicated to helping people in need.
That support funded nearly 4,000 projects across 192 countries, ranging from food assistance and disaster relief to education and self-reliance initiatives.
One example is a Church-supported farm in Jordan, where 150 milk sheep were donated to establish a sustainable dairy-training program for local families. In that same year, 32 million pounds of food grown on Church-owned farms were distributed through food banks and humanitarian partners.
Warehouses and storehouses operated by the Church worldwide ensure that emergency supplies and food are readily available wherever disaster strikes.
Fact #2: Latter-day Saints Lead in Religious Commitment
Among all Christian denominations, Latter-day Saints consistently lead in measures of devotion—scripture study, church attendance, and volunteer service.
Their daily discipleship is reflected not just in worship but in how they live, serve, and strengthen one another.

Fact #3: Latter-day Saints Build Strong and Enduring Families
Studies consistently show that Latter-day Saint marriages are among the most stable in America.
Research from the University of Illinois at Chicago found that marriages between Church members have the lowest divorce rates of any major religious group—estimated at 13%.
Additional data from the B.H. Roberts Foundation found that temple marriages—those performed with eternal covenants—are especially enduring, with an estimated 14% ending in divorce, compared to 53% among non-temple marriages.
A BYU study surveying over 3,000 Latter-day Saint teens revealed that 86% described their parents’ marriage as “happy” or “very happy.” These findings underscore the powerful role that shared faith plays in creating strong, lasting families.
Fact #4: Families Are Central to Latter-day Saint Life
Latter-day Saints also have some of the highest fertility rates and the largest share of adults with children at home among all religious groups in the United States.
Family life and child-rearing are viewed as sacred responsibilities that mirror eternal relationships.
Fact #5: Members Report Higher Happiness and Life Satisfaction
Surveys show that members of the Church report higher levels of happiness and life satisfaction than both the national average and those who have left the faith.
Their emphasis on service, family, and purpose contributes to a deep sense of spiritual and emotional fulfillment.

Fact #6: Latter-day Saint Youth Are Exceptionally Faithful and Resilient
Research by Dr. Kenda Creasy Dean of Princeton University highlights the extraordinary character of Latter-day Saint youth. In her national study of American teenagers, she found that LDS teens consistently demonstrated exceptional spiritual vitality, optimism, health, and self-awareness.
Dean wrote:
“Latter-day Saint teenagers ranked ahead of other youth in terms of spiritual vitality, hope for the future, and overall well-being. In nearly every category, they were the most positive, the most hopeful, and the most self-aware teenagers in the study.”
Her findings reflect a faith culture that not only shapes belief but also builds capable, compassionate, and purpose-driven young people.
Fact #7: The Church Is Growing Rapidly Worldwide
The Church continues to see remarkable growth worldwide. A senior Church leader recently shared that convert baptisms increased by 20% in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period the previous year, across every major global region.
If that pace continues, 2025 could see around 370,000 convert baptisms, surpassing the Church’s previous record of 331,000 set in 1990. This upward trend highlights the continued vitality of missionary work and faith commitment across the globe.
Fact #8: The Church is Making Higher Education More Accessible
Education has long been a cornerstone of Latter-day Saint service and faith. The Church invests roughly $1 billion each year to support higher education through its network of institutions, including Brigham Young University, BYU–Idaho, BYU–Hawaii, Ensign College, and the rapidly growing BYU–Pathway Worldwide program.
BYU–Pathway is especially transformative, delivering affordable, online degree programs to tens of thousands of students—many in developing countries.
In 2024, enrollment surpassed 75,000 students worldwide, including 27,000 in Africa alone.
At a recent BYU conference, Dr. Viva Bartkus, a Yale- and Oxford-trained economist and former Notre Dame professor, described the initiative as “extraordinary,” adding:
“BYU–Pathway Worldwide may become your Church’s greatest gift to the world—hands down.”
