Witnesses of the Book of Mormon and the CES Letter

  • None of the witnesses of the Book of Mormon ever denied their testimonies. The CES Letters claims that this fact is irrelevant to the issue of the Book of Mormon. The Letter says that the witnesses were unreliable, were tainted by their nineteenth-century magical worldview, and didn’t actually see the plates. These arguments by the CES Letter rely on second and third-hand accounts, take quotes out of context, and make some large assumptions about the beliefs of the witnesses.
